    DAVENPORT - Incumbent Republicans Mary Dye of Pomeroy and Joe Schmick of Colfax are leading in their Nov. 5 general election bids to retain their 9th Legislative District House seats. In unofficial returns districtwide at press time, Dye is leading in the Position No. 1 race with 38,933 votes (66.21%). Challenger Patrick Miller had 19.734 (33.56%).     OLYMPIA — Voters statewide are saying enough to government overreach on natural gas. In a preliminary tally in the Nov. 5 general election, Initiative 2066 was passing with 1,434,504 supporting votes (51.35%) and 1,358,874 opposing votes (48.65%). In Lincoln County the measure had 3,579 (73.46%) votes in favor and 1,293 (26.54%) opposed.     LAMONT — The School District will face trial over alleged negligence following a hearing Friday, Aug. 9, in Whitman County Superior Court. The district had moved for a summary judgment to dismiss a lawsuit brought about by former Lamont Middle School student Amber Jolie Berg of Sprague, now 19.     COLFAX - Incumbent 9th District Representative Joe Schmick is leading in the race for a 9th Legislative District House seat in the Tuesday, Aug. 6, primary election.
