The Washington State Department of Health in Olympia has received confirmation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), that a Mason County man in his 20’s, who visited a Thurston County hospital, is the first person in the state to test positive for the Zika virus. The winning streak for the Titan girls basketball team continued when they played the Valley Christian Panthers in Deer Park Wednesday, February 17. Dog licenses are required by an ordinance of the Town of Odessa. Each license is good for one year and is renewal each January. The purpose of the licensing fee is to help cover the cost of finding lost dogs or corraling loose dogs and returning them to their owners. The kennel for stray animals that belongs to the town has fallen into disrepair, and efforts to replace it are currently at a standstill. The Old Town Hall Rejuvenation Society will meet Tuesday, March 1, at 5 p.m. in the dining room of the Old Town Hall. Items on the agenda include a review of the existing plan for the building and suggestions for changes to that plan. On Thursday February 25, Odessa Memorial Healthcare Center will participate, along with Region 9 Healthcare Coalition members, in training of local staff members in how to respond in the event of a disaster. February 22, Washington state regulators fined Qwest Corporation, dba CenturyLink QC, $2,854,750 for the April 2014 statewide 911 outage. The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission approved a settlement between the company and commission staff following an investigation into the 911 outage that severely disrupted emergency services for six hours.
