Even after a four-hour trip to western Washington and the town of Mountlake Terrace, the Tiger were stoked Saturday, February 24, and dominated a capable team from Cedar Park Christian (whose home court, by the way, is located only five miles away in Bothell). Nevertheless, it was Tigers all the way. After a nearly even first quarter, Odessa pulled away in the second quarter to post a 28-17 lead at the half. They continued to increase their lead in the second half, while some...
Sheriff Wade Magers introduces Marine 1 to our marine fleet. We were fortunate enough to acquire a new 23-foot vessel made by Life Proof Boat. Our current 1994 19-foot Almar was in tough shape and was needing to be replaced. The old vessel simply was not a great patrol boat and the old two-stroke outboard was beginning to fail. We partnered with WA State Parks, which is responsible for marine budgets and grant opportunities associated with marine programs throughout the...
The sunshine says warmth but if you step outside you will find that it is still on the cool side. My daffodils are about four inches tall, so they are ready for spring. I guess we will just have to wait a little longer. In the meantime, let me introduce you to Tommie and Dolores Nelson. Tommie was born in January of 1947 and grew up on a farm with his parents, six sisters and seven brothers, Tommie being the oldest. They had a garden and raised animals, and his father worked i...

Salmon Chowder 1 small onion, peeled, quartered and thinly sliced 1 Tbsp butter or olive oil 1 can (10 3/4 ounces) condensed cream of celery soup...
To the Editor: I really enjoyed the family movie night at the Christ Lutheran Church last weekend. It was a “food-raiser” event for the local food bank, and I was able to enjoy my first movie night out with my little Tympist, age 6. I very much enjoyed the movie as well. Another is scheduled for March 18, and I am planning on attending if I can. I hope that lots of people and kids show up with a can for donation, and I hope there are so many people there that they keep it going once a month. Tympist and I will keep com...
To the Editor: I found a card the other day that said, “I Think of You Often.” I decided Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers needed to know that I think of her often, so I sent her a note: “I think of you often. I think of how you do not listen to us, do not care for us, do not talk to us, but continually pass laws that harm us. I think of you often. I think of 12 years in Congress and you have done nothing to stop the mass murder of children and adults in our land, but you completely support the NRA and everyone’s right t...
