The women’s golf league, Chicks with Sticks, got off to a great start. A game of scramble was played, and afterwards the women enjoyed barbecued hamburgers and a variety of snacks. Winning long drive was Sally Kagele whose team, The Boogie Nights, is made up of Lindsy Starkle, Deanna Lobe and April Steward. The team, Misfits, consisting of Chris Crossley, Mo Sheldon, Jax Allen and Janie Steward, won the prize for high net score. League play will continue through the summer....
I hope that the residents of Odessa appreciate the people who work at the Odessa Memorial Healthcare Center. I was recently a resident there for two months receiving physical therapy after a difficult hip replacement. I have never been in a medical facility where everyone is so helpful and caring, and I’m truly talking about everyone. The opening weekend of Aces Are Feverish at the Masquers Theater in Soap Lake was a success, and audiences loved the play, said director Joanne Bracht. Tickets are still available for the final six performances. Gazebo The Harrington City Park gazebo, built in the summer of 1955 by the Lions Club, was set to be demolished this week when a group consisting of Gordon Herron, Mike Herron and members of the 4 x 4 Club contacted the Lions Club and Mayor Haas to seek to preserve the structure and gain ownership. The recent power outages that have plagued Odessa over the past few weeks are still being investigated by local Avista representative Sam Mullins and his colleagues. An area outside of town was pinpointed, but replacement of nearly every piece of equipment at that location has failed to fix the problem. The Early Learning Action Alliance has selected Rep. Tom Dent, R-Moses Lake, to receive an Early Learning Emerging Leader Award. The Odessa pool opened June 19, under the direction of this year’s pool manager Katelyn Worley and her assistants Casey Schlomer and Shelbey Watkins. Lifeguards this year are Maleah Davison, Parker Valverde, Patrick Valverde, Alayna Watkins, McKennah Davison, Rebecca Fortner, Brenna Carstensen, Mya Boss and Natosha Boss.
