Carol Spies passed away peacefully Monday, August 26, 2019, at the age of 90 in Spokane. She was born in Marlin at her grandparents' home on September 25, 1928 to George and Lille Starkel. She had four younger siblings: Gloria, Jerry, Joyce and Josephine (Tyke). She attended school in Marlin and graduated in 1946. She spent one year at Whitworth college. A local memorabilia collector brought a little brown jug into city hall last week which had the following words of advertisement on it, "Dutch Henry's Place. Harrington, Wash.
