On September 6, 2017, Lincoln County Detectives and Deputies served a warrant just south of Mohler in Lincoln County, Sheriff Wade W. Magers reports. The search warrant was served for an illegal marijuana grow which in part was visible from the county roadway. Deputies arriving on scene detained several suspects and an explanation of the process and warrant service was given. A full complement of the Odessa Town Council met Monday evening under the leadership of Mayor Lois Hubbard. Several members of the public were also on hand to either address the council or support those who were doing so. The girls volleyball team won their away conference match against the Columbia Lions of Hunters September 6 by a final score of 3-0. Rosa Marie "Rosie" Michaelsen was born in Odessa Sept. 29, 1918. She was the fifth of seven daughters born to Conrad and Anna Margaret Schauerman. Her father Con was a brick layer and contractor, building Odessa's wooden grain bins and homes (to include Rosie and Heinie's). Many still remain. Last week The Odessa Record included a Deutschesfest insert. In the insert on page 3 is a stock recipe for Apple Strudel. Please Do Not use that recipe. Reason one, amounts in metric or US are incorrect. At best, you will end up with goop suitable for hanging wallpaper. Reason two, this is not the style of strudel served during Fest, as it is a rolled rather than stretched dough. The filling ingredients listed are typical of an Austrian style strudel. Awards from the Columbia Basin Foundation and Washington State Arts Commission will support a countywide production in December. Davenport Theatrical has been awarded two grants for an upcoming production to be performed in December.
