Last week Tuesday, members of the Odessa community gathered in the atrium of the hospital to bid farewell to physician's assistant DJ Jones. He was recruited to join the Odessa staff in May of 2014. Since that time he and his wife has been searching for a suitable home to purchase or a property on which to build. Neither effort bore fruit, and ultimately the couple decided they were best off staying put in the Cheney area. Jones will work at Sacred Heart Medical Center in...
1 years ago From The Odessa Record December 3, 1915 The state Board of Health wrote to a mother in this state, calling her attention to the fact that the birth of her baby had not been reported. She replied, “I have had seven babies and this is the first time I have had to go through with all this foolishness.” Failure to register births often caused problems later in life. A Miss Brunner, born in Bellingham, went abroad to study in 1914. She was in Switzerland visiting her grandparents when the war broke out. She has bee...

This open enrollment period will end on January 31, 2016. Those who currently lack insurance should sign up without delay. Ever since I was a kitten, I’ve been digging in the dirt, gazing at the stars, exploring new places and searching for answers to questions about our world. Still, some people are surprised when they discover I’m a scientist. After all, it’s not every day you meet a cat in a lab coat. With the help of experts in the field and my friends at Washington State University, I answer some of the most interesting, tough and smart questions from curious kids all around the world...

As Avista and the communities impacted by the November 17 wind storm try to return to “business as usual,” many will never forget the devastation, destruction and personal damage left behind by Mother Nature’s near-hurricane force winds. It took almost 10 days of around-the-clock restoration efforts by up to 132 Avista, contract and mutual aid crews from six western states and Canad...
Dear Friends and Neighbors, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! I wanted to send one final interim update before the start of the 60-day 2016 legislative session on January 11. It is an honor to serve as your state representative, and I look forward to continuing the good work we have started. I recently returned f...

The rest comes from winter vehicle storage, off-season events, signs purchased, wristbands and entry to the fair. The Lincoln County Fair Advisory Board struggles yearly to put on a good fair with limited funds. A...
