    SPOKANE VALLEY – A Davenport wrestler finished in fifth place at the Tri-County Classic wrestling tournament Dec. 23 at Central Valley high School. Brock Gustaveson led the Gorillas with 13.0 team points. Gustaveson opened with a bye and then faced Cole Schumacher (Mead), winning by pin in 26 seconds.   • Power restored after day-long outage

    DAVENPORT--Power has been restored city-wide as of 6:40 p.m. The power went out here and along Highway 2 east toward Mondovi this morning after a substation regulator caught fire around 8 a.m. A crew from Avista was sent from Spokane to address the outage, which affected over 1,200 users and lasted over 10 hours during a cold Sunday in the city. The fire required a response from Fire District No. 5 and Avista crews. Local district crews were sent home by 9:30 a.m. The outages were restored throughout the city intermittently...

  • City loses power as transformer substation regulator catches fire in Davenport

    DAVENPORT--A substation regulator at the transforming station on Third Street here caught fire this morning, causing power to go out in the city. Crews from Fire District No. 5 and Avista Utilities were dispatched around 8 a.m. and were on scene for about 90 minutes. A crew from Avista in Spokane is on its way to work on repairs, which is expected to take the rest of the day.     DAVENPORT—The city’s newest restaurant is closing its doors after just six months in business. 6th Street Café and Pizza announced it would be closing its doors “for the time being” in a Facebook post Monday, Dec. 27.     DAVENPORT—A busy end to 2021 for city council included the reinstitution of water late fees, approval of the 2022 city budget and swearing in of four councilmembers Dec. 22.     DAVENPORT – Frigid temperatures, biting winds and some snowfall arrived in the area this week and are expected to last through New Year’s Day Saturday, Jan. 1.     ODESSA – Schoonover Farms, LLC of Odessa is voluntarily recalling retail raw whole milk and cream after routine testing by the Washington State Department of Agriculture revealed the presence of toxin-producing E. coli in a raw cream sample on Dec. 23.
