    RITZVILLE — The Davenport girls fastpitch softball team opened the 2025 season with a doubleheader loss on the road March 14. The Gorillas fell to the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos in the opener, 8-0, and in the nightcap, 25-17. The Broncos pretty much ran away with the first game, shutting out the Davenport Gorillas, 8-0.     SPRAGUE - A local veterinarian is helping some Ritzville residents care for an injured stray dog. The stray dog - dubbed "Evie" - appeared in Ritzville without a clue where she came from. When she was captured, "Evie" had two broken legs and an infection, and was in need of major surgery. The cost, an estimated $10,000 to $15,000.
