Lobe, Emanuel T. “Mike,” (b. 12/19/1904, Odessa, Washington. d. 1/2/1991). Parents: Gust and Mary (Greenwalt) Lobe. He grew up in Odessa and in 1926 married Annie Heimbigner. After working as a wheat rancher in the area, they moved in 1932 to Malaga, and he was employed as a truck driver for Landreth Timber Co. and for Peshastin Lumber Co.
Leffelbein, John B., (b. 1885. d. 1958).
Melcher, George, (b. about 1881, Russia. d. 1955). Following his marriage to Katherine in Russia, he was called for army duty with the Russian army in the Russo-Japanese war, serving four years. He was taken prisoner by the Japanese in Manchuria, and remained a captive for nine months and 16 days. Came to the United States in 1908. He farmed for a time in the Schrag area, then at Batum. He will retire from the Batum farm in 1942 and go to Ritzville.
Oliver, Basil A., (b. 9/25/1897, Echo, Oregon. d. 4/5/1949). Wife: Martha. Father: E.J. Oliver born MO .; Mother: Lilian Asup born MO. Oliver came to the Odessa area in 1923, after service with the American armed forces in France during WWI. In 1922, he married Miss Martha Walter of Odessa, at Walla Walla, and they farmed at Buhl, Idaho, until the fall of 1923, when they came to Odessa locating south of Batum. They will leave the farm in the fall of 1947 to live in Odessa. In addition to his farming operations, Basil will be active in business life and in fraternal groups.
Raugust Sr., Jacob, (b. 12/6/1855, Kulm, Russia. d. 5/9/1945). Father: Ludwig Raugust. Wife: Christina Jess/Yess. Jacob was born in Kulm, Russia, later moving to the hamlet of Eigenheim, Russia, where he was married 11/26/1880 to Miss Christina Yess, and in April, 1903, started for America. He arrived at Ritzville July 28 of that year and purchased land near Batum. He farmed until 1920 and then retired to make his home in Odessa.
