L/W Sausage Bowl victors; O-H Titans fall by 30-14

LaCrosse/Washtucna returned to Odessa Saturday evening of Fest weekend to play the game that was aborted Friday by the failure of a transformer that shut off the field lights. The game had just gotten under way, when the lights went out. Not to be deterred, both teams agreed to meet again the next day, same time, same place, to complete the Sausage Bowl.

Saturday night, the Tigercats struck first, with Harder scoring on a four-yard pass from Aune. Holdren was the receiver for the two-point conversion. L/W kept its 8-0 lead through the end of the first quarter.

Odessa-Harrington’s offense heated up in the second quarter, and the Titans scored on an 11-yard run by quarterback Jared King. King then passed to Jake Tanke for the two-point conversion. The Tigercats then answered with another touchdown and two, to make the score 16-8 at the half.

The third quarter was mostly a defensive battle, but the Titans managed to score on a five-yard run by Brett Larmer. The run attempt for two more points was unsuccessful. However, the Titans managed to hold off L/W for the remainder of the quarter.

In the fourth quarter, fortunes turned around for the Tigercats and they were able to score twice, while holding the Titans scoreless. L/W won the game 30-14.
