INCIDENT LOG

Editor's note: Most items in this section reflect the starting point for response by local police and emergency agencies. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.

Sept. 19: A Reardan man described a fraudulent phone call from "the Court of Lincoln" attempting to collect a debt.

No one was hurt after a vehicle went off SR 231 near Edwall and collided with a sign.

A Davenport woman reported a dog that continually runs loose and knocks over trash cans in the vicinity of Eleventh and Merriam streets.

A Sprague woman said a dog almost knocked her off her crutches as she walked to the post office.

A Davenport woman reported a dog almost bit a boy and did scratch a 6-year-old girl in the 1100 block of Marshall.

Deputies looked for an ostrich or emu seen loose in the vicinity of Rocklyn and Kruger roads. Two days later, an emu was seen in a stubble field east of SR 28 and south of Spinning Road.

A collision involving a vehicle and a deer took place on SR 231 near Devils Gap Road. Another was reported on SR 2 about a mile east of the Telford rest area.

A Miles Creston Road resident told dispatchers he heard a gunshot and, shortly afterwards, found a dying deer in his driveway.

Juveniles are suspected in a break-in at a storage lot at Railroad and Division in Odessa.

Sept. 20: A vehicle-deer collision was reported on SR 25 between Larene and Hart roads.

A Davenport woman reported being harassed on the phone.

A caller reported a suspicious pickup truck that may be linked to the taking of items from a scrap pile in a field in the vicinity of Jannet and Denny Station roads.

A county Public Works crew reported a Ford Ranger had gone through the Miles Creston Road construction area and caused damage to the roadway.

A caller reported that a motorcyclist was traveling recklessly on SR 2 near the Telford rest area, speeding up and slowing down, preventing other vehicles from passing it.

A woman reported a break-in and theft of a TV from a unit at A-1 Storage in Davenport.

No one was reported hurt after two vehicles collided on SR 2 at Bisson Road.

A Michigan man was arrested after a suspicious vehicle was seen at the old missile site south of Davenport. A caller reported hearing what sounded like a car driving very fast on the road and then crashing. Deputies found a gate that appeared to have been hit by a vehicle.

A woman reported threats had been made against her daughter while she attended a volleyball game at Harrington school.

A man was arrested in connection with a Miles Creston Road woman's report of being harassed on the phone and by someone honking the horn in a vehicle near her residence.

Sept. 21: After posting tires for sale on craigslist, a Bald Ridge Road resident received a check for $2,000 more than his $500 asking price - and a request that the extra money be returned to the sender.

A Harrington High School official reported that a male student was assaulted and suffered a black eye just before the scheduled football game at Odessa which was postponed when a blown transformer cut the field lights.

After a Davenport man reported the possible theft of a Polaris all-terrain vehicle valued at $5,000 from the 1300 block of Jefferson Street, deputies found it in his daughter's possession at school.

After Reardan police dealt with a disturbance at the local mini-mart involving a man, deputies in Davenport encountered him at Trader's Express, but without incident. The following day in Davenport, the same man, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, was observed checking car doors in several blocks of Morgan Street, eating a Subway sandwich he had purchased, and laying on the side of the road to the west of Davenport. Later in Wilbur, local clinic personnel asked for police assistance with the man, catching up with him in the town park, where an officer suggested it was "time to leave town."

An ambulance was sent to help a 33-year-old man who may have suffered broken ribs as a result of an assault at an Odessa bar.

Sept. 22: A 34-year-old man found slumped over the dash of a vehicle on SR 2 near Reardan was driven to Lincoln Hospital for an examination.

The driver, a 65-year-old Nespelem woman, was killed in a one-vehicle rollover collision on Sherman Draw and Alderson roads about 1½ miles north of Wilbur. A passenger, a 48-year-old woman, was able to walk to a nearby residence to get help.

A caller reported hearing a loud bang and seeing a fire along Crescent Road North near Reardan.

At SR 2 and Oehlwein Road, a deputy stopped a Ford Expedition pulling an old trailer without plates and driven by what appeared to be a woman talking on a cell phone.

A collision almost resulted when a speeding vehicle passed another on the shoulder near the Davenport Safeway store.

Wilbur Police found a fawn that appeared to have been hit by a car at Main and Anne streets.

Sept. 23: A caller told dispatchers she found a motorcycle jacket with keys in the picket hanging on a fence near SR 21 about two miles south of the Keller ferry.

A caller reported finding a bicycle in Cottonwood Creek south of Park Street in Davenport.

A Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad crossing arm was found on the ground at the Birch Street crossing in Odessa.

A caller reported seeing two or three vehicles heading towards property on Randall Lane that had been posted against hunters and trespassers.

Traffic backed up on SR 25 past the Egypt church after a Suburban went off the roadway. No injuries were reported.

A young Almira boy was found at a friend's house after a search that began when he failed to return home by the time set by his mother.

About $750 damage occurred to a vehicle that collided with a deer at the east end of Creston.

Odessa Police investigated a juvenile problem behind the brewery in the 200 block of North First Street. Several spray paint cans had been set up and shot at with BB guns.

Reardan Police found everything secure despite an audible alarm at the Red Rooster restaurant.

Sept. 24: Multiple boxes were found in the roadway on SR 28 between Harrington and Odessa.

Deputies responded to a report that without her permission, a man was taking photos of an Almira woman's house from her backyard.

Creston firefighters responded to a field on fire just outside town near F Street. Initial reports indicated the blaze may have been caused by someone throwing something from a vehicle.

At his request, a man who has suffered from serious depression was transported by ambulance from Creston to the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Spokane.

Two occupants of a vehicle involved in a collision in front of the Davenport Safeway store were taken by ambulance to Lincoln Hospital for treatment.

Sept. 25: Davenport firefighters responded to a report of a heavy gas odor in the 200 block of Marshall Street. It was determined that a charcoal grill was the source.

Anthony L. Hamilton, 36, Davenport, arrested by LCSO for illegal possession of firearm.

Joseph Dezelski, 31, Traverse City, Mich., arrested by LCSO for first-degree criminal trespass.

Sept. 23: Tessa M. Holt-Cadman, 28, Sedro-Woolley, Wash., held under contract with the state Department of Corrections for a probation violation.

Sept. 24: Geannie R. Austin, 34, Selah, Wash., held on a warrant from East Wenatchee for failing to comply with the court's sentence for possession of methamphetamine.

Justin K. McDowell, 30, Greenacres, confined one day by the court for driving while under the influence.

Sept. 26: Paul L. Arthur, 45, Ford, confined by the court for driving while under the influence.

Desmond D. Peters, 22, Omak, arrested by WSP for driving while under the influence and while license suspended.
