Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
The 2011 junior-high football season is under way for the Odessa-Harrington Titans, with a large turnout of 22 seventh and eighth graders playing – 14 from Odessa and eight from Harrington.
The Titans challenged Almira/Coulee-Hartline in the home opener and lost, 0-38. Caleb Behrens led the Titan team in tackles.
The second game was much closer, with the Titans losing to Hunters-Inchelium, 14-24. The score at the half was 0-0. Caleb Behrens, playing at quarterback, scored a touchdown and made an extra-point conversion. Dylan Shockley caught a 55-yard TD pass from Behrens, and the line played much better in the second game, according to co-coach Larry Weber.
The Titans recovered an on-side kick by Joey Buell. On defense, “linebackers Jacob Montgomery, Jez Worrell and Caleb Behrens did an excellent job of coming up and tackling the Hunters running backs who outweighed them by 25 pounds,” said Weber. “The kids ran our no-huddle offense quite well in the second half, giving us our first two touchdowns of the year.”
The next junior-high game will be played in Harrington September 29 at 4 p.m. against Springdale.
