Mansfield | 8 | 8 | -16 |
Jared King (7), Stetson Sanford (31), Garrison Schmierer (19) and Justin Hunt (24) all scored touchdowns via the run, with 16, 9, 4 and 14 yards gained, respectively, to score those touchdowns. King found a wide-open receiver, Jake Tanke (22) for an 18-yard touchdown pass during the first quarter of action. Sanford played “out of his mind” with a 79-yard kick-return touchdown that put the final nail in the coffin late in the second quarter.
The defensive line of the Titans never gave Mansfield a chance to throw, owning the line of scrimmage in the decisive victory. Cade Weber (3), who had dropped a touchdown pass from King redeemed himself with an interception early in the first quarter.
Also with a clutch interception, Markus Smith (8) covered 36 yards of the gridiron and took it all the way for a score, which put the Titans up 32-0 late in the first quarter. Overall, the Titans dominated the ground game, the passing game, special teams and defense, all four key aspects of football which culminated in that 56-16 blowout.
The Titans weren’t perfect though, suffering multiple penalties, which took two Titan touchdowns off of the scoreboard.
