Clocks and Watches

Clocks and watches, what marvelous things!

Though not artesian, they all have main---springs.

Just like a rose, most do come with---stems.

And crystals and jewels, what precious gems.

With intricate brass, mechanical gears,

Each has a---face, but no eyes or ears.

They have no mouth, yet the gears have---teeth,

That connect to those other, gears underneath.

They have no arms, but most come with three---hands.

Though not musical, some have their own bands.

Large and small---hands, yet, no fingers or thumb.

Brand new---second hand, the electric may hum.

With no legs or feet, they surely do---run.

They don’t play baseball, but they do---strike one.

With hands, but no knees, how can time---crawl?

Clocks don’t murder, yet, some are---hung---on a wall!

Watches can’t eat, yet, some have a---full plate.

And some have a calendar, that shows the date.

A very well---balanced staff, a watch maker’s delight.

They never get drunk, but some---wind up a bit tight!

Some are---Mickey Mouse, but they’re not really mice.

They’re lousy with---ticks, but they don’t have lice.

This may sound a bit---Cuckoo, it may sound a bit wild,

Clocks can be a Grandfather, yet, have no grandchild.

Though not on a playground, their pendulums---swing.

They are all fearless, but the---alarmed ones ring.

They don’t wear---sand glasses, for they have no eyes.

Not one clock has wings, but time sure---flies!

Yes, time is so precious, time is so frail.

We waste and---kill time, but we don’t go to jail.

I’ve scribed witty words, and made them all rhyme.

If you like what I’ve penned, well, it’s about---time!
