The Creative Corner: Another Blessed Thanksgiving

The cupboards---the frig---they’re bursting with food.

It’s Thanksgiving Day---and we’re in a festive mood.

Steam soars from kettles, both ovens are on.

The table’s well trimmed, thanks to Myrna and DeVonne.

Flames dance a slow waltz, on tall candles, aglow,

Which adds a warm touch, hey look---it’s starting to snow!

We’re glad part of a family, could make the trip home,

While we watch football live, from Pontiac’s Silverdome.

There’s Chee-tos, Doritos, Tostitos for snacks.

Pita bread, elk salami, and for Nash---Cracker Jacks!

Aromas tease my nose, which makes---my mouth water.

Like---a yummy pecan pie, specially made by my daughter.

A bronze twenty pound turkey, Bill just finished carving,

And spicy warm sweet potatoes, man---am I---starving!

But before we partake, we’ll---bow for the blessing.

Then---I’ll load up my plate, with sage flavored dressing,

And lots of nummy asparagus, black olives, orange squash,

Mashed potatoes and gravy, some red cranberry sauce,

Hot honey wheat rolls, butter and raspberry jam,

Yellow corn, tossed salad, green beans, smoked ham.

A cut of white turkey breast, tasty Basmati rice,

Cauliflower and broccoli, and that---should suffice.

My plate is brimmed full, yes, good food’s piled high.

No doubt I’ll have---seconds, then hone in on the---pie.

With knife in hand, I’ll make an extra large cut,

For I must have a slice of, DeVonne’s Washington nut!

Then---I’ll have a small piece, of apple pie a la mode,

And whipped cream on pumpkin---before I--explode.

Dinner was scrumptious, the ladies deserve copious applause!

We take so much for granted, and that’s why---we pause,

To give THANKS for abundance---our overflowing plateful.

We never go to bed hungry, and for that Lord---we’re grateful!
