Karla Ann Novotney

Karla Ann Novotney died December 3, 2011 in Spokane.

She was born August 13, 1939 to Donivan and Mary Alice Warwick in Harrington. She grew up in Harrington and attended school, graduating from Harrington High School in 1957. She attended Kinman Business School in Spokane for a short time before returning to Harrington.

On June 3, 1961, she married William “Bill” Novotney in Harrington. The couple lived in Harrington, raised their four daughters and enjoyed their grandchildren.

Karla is survived by four daughters: Marty (Keenan) Sells of Valley, Melissa (Marlon) Schafer of Odessa, Susan (Casey) Aldridge of Davenport and Debbie Bruce (fiancé Lonny Soliday) of Harrington; eight grandchildren: Kieran and Kiel Sells; Andrew, Sam and Molly Schafer; Catie Aldridge; Alexandria and Zackary Bruce and two brothers: Donald (Claudia) Warwick of Syringa, Idaho and George “Rusty” Warwick of Davenport, and a sister Karen Lee of Davenport, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bill Novotney in 2010 and her parents Donivan and Mary Alice Warwick. She is a member of the Harrington United Methodist Church and Choir Director, Order of the Eastern Star and International Order of Rainbow for Girls, elected treasurer for the City of Harrington and has been employed at the accounting firm of Leffel, Otis, and Warwick since the late 1950s, and where she was employed at the time of her death.

She enjoyed and supported her grandchildren’s activities, Gonzaga basketball, playing cribbage and taught her grandchildren to play piano.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Harrington United Methodist Church, with Pastor Cynthia Wuts officiating. Mrs. Novotney will lie-in-state at the Strate Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Harrington United Methodist Church or the Odessa-Harrington Athletic Booster Club.
