Christmas eve 'exceptionally joyous' 105 years ago
Christmas was a happy time for residents of the new town of Odessa during the last week of December 1906 The Odessa Record reported.
The issue of December 26 gave this account of the holiday season:
Though Christmas was a quiet day, it was a merry one, especially for the little folks of Odessa. Christmas gifts and Christmas cheer in the shape of confections, nuts and other dainties abounded in every home, and the spirit in which the little ones entered into the occasion could not but bring back memories that made all feel younger and better for the day.
