Trapshooters take advantage of springlike conditions

Odessa-Marlin entered Week 6 of the Spokesman Review annual trapshooting competition two shots behind the Colton Gun Club and one ahead of third place Garfield-St. John.

Springlike conditions, with intermittent sunshine and highs around fifty degrees brought 65 shooters to the Marlin Gun Club Sunday. Even more were there as cooks, supporters and spectators.

Marlin turned in four perfect scores, from Dave Lang, Mark Iksic, Doug Starkel and Ken Eckhart.

Austin Nelson, Dusty Kimble and Tyler Greenwalt all shot 24.

Dave Asker, Mark Edwins, Keith Lenssen, Mark Brashear and Dave Pelham shot 23.

Shooting 22 were Scott Mortimer, Kurt Moore, Jason Ellsworth and Mark King.

Carmen Eckhart, Justin Starkel, Ken Thompson, Jake Bennett and Josh Gray each had 21.

Shooting 20 and under were Harlan Thrall, Daryl Kimble, Artie Ribail, Jeff Norley, Donna Thrall, Mackenzie Bemis, Matt Mortimer, Scott Heimbigner, Doug Brashear, Lynette Nelson, Carl Nations, Cody Kamstra, Hope Ellsworth, Kevin Burck, Mark Janett, Rick Kamstra, Alex King, Staci Garrett, Chase Janett, Kara Gunderson, Keeva Kimble, Pam Brashear, Emily Allen, Jordan James, Shelbey Brashear, Genn Gray, Jacob Starkel, Kemper Reynolds, Sam Hochstatter, Griffey Powell, Pat Hochstatter, Steve Powell, Daton Garnes, Derik Burck, Kathy Ribail, Tucker Janett, Chris Helgeson, Gary Potter, Tasha Heimbigner, Eric Yancey, Jessie Pelham, Caden Johnson, Lane Zimbelman and Derek Burck.

High Handicap winners were Carmen Eckhart and Mark Iksic (1st) and Dave Lang and Dave Asker (2nd). Miss-n-Out winner was Ken Eckhart.

Odessa added 37 shooters and 2 more perfect scores to this week’s competition.

Stacey Hunt and Ryan Lewis each shot 25.

Shooting 24 were Cody Stanford, Landon Lobe, Jared Praetorious, Justin Hunt and Tom Schuh.

Doug Tebow and Markham Nichols each shot 23, and Nick Tebow and William Mann had 22.

Jim Smith, Bryce Haase, Mike Nichols, Jr., Sam Greenwalt, Mike Nichols, Sr., Bill Weber, Nick Nelson and Garrett Braun all shot 21.

Shooting 20 and under were Brady Gies, Hailey Williams, Larry Weber, Andrew Holman, Cade Weber, Colton Hunt, Wyatt Haase, Max Greenwalt, Carsen Weber, Aaron Gies, Lane Lobe, Jaden Hunt, Camden Weber, Danielle Tebow, Rochelle Schuh, Pilot Weishaar and Nick Kuest.

High Handicap winners were Brady Gies and Sam Greenwalt; High Doubles, Brady Gies and Jared Praetorious; High Continental, Jared Praetorious; Miss-n-Out, Jared Praetorious (1st) and Bryce Haase (2nd); Annie Oakley, Colley Walter; Bushwhacker, Tom Schuh and 5 from the 40, Tom Schuh.
