Conservation Day offers area students a variety of classes

The Lincoln County Conservation District Conservation Day was held on May 10, 2012 at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds. A total of 156 students from Davenport, Reardan, Harrington, Odessa, Christian Heritage, and Wilbur attended the event. Classes held were Fire Prevention, presented by Doug Bonstrom, Nancy Harada, and Stephanie Regan of the Airway Heights Fire Department; Weather, presented by John Livingston, of the National Weather Service; Electricity, presented by Eddie Bageant of Inland Power and Light; Recycling by Rory Wintersteen of the Lincoln County Recycling Center; Bugs, presented by Kevin Hupp of the Lincoln County Noxious Weed Control; Bees, presented by Scott Ingles and Linda Carney of the Bee Association; Fire Safety, presented by The Bureau of Land Management, with Chris Shafer and Debbie Plummer; Texting, Alcohol and Drugs by Roland Singer and Mark Stauffer, of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department; Forestry, presented by Shawn Soliday, state Department of Natural Resources; Water Quality, presented by Stacey Selcho, Education Coordinator, Spokane County Conservation District; and Wildlife, presented by Curt Wood, a Fish and Wildlife Department enforcement officer. Soda was donated by Safeway.
