Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
Kira Powell brought home her third consecutive State B golf championship last week, finishing just one stroke ahead of Emily Baumgart of DeSales HS and four ahead of Michal Schuster of St. John-Endicott.
According to coach Sam Read, “Kira came through in some tough playing conditions and under a lot of pressure of being the two time returning champion, and terrible weather.”
State B golf was held at Oakbrook Golf and Country Club in Lakewood May 22 and 23. Five Odessa-Harrington golfers participated, but Powell was the only one to make the cut after the first day of play.
Read said that the “Odessa boys did not have a good day playing in the rain. We are excited that Madison (Charlton) and Griffey (Powell) are only sophomores. They gained some great experience playing at this level. Chris Hansen is a senior and will be missed next year.” He added that “Hailey Williams, a first year player, made it to state, but struggled in the bad weather and did not make the cut to play the second day. We were very proud of her for making it to state her first year.”
