Titans get two firsts at state, one in golf, one in track

Kira Powell did it for the third year in a row, capturing first place in 1B girls golf in the rain at Lakeside in western Washington. Koralynne Kuch, Hannah Schmidt, Chelsea Fisher and Jordyn Tanke, the four girls running the 4x200-meter relay event at the 1A/1B/2B track and field meet in Cheney also brought home a first place.

The Odessa-Harrington Titan girls track team was in a three-way tie for seventh place at the state meet held last weekend on the campus of Eastern Washington University in Cheney. The Titans tied with Thorp and King’s Way Christian for the seventh spot.

The only member of the boys team to qualify was Jacob DeWulf, who got sixth place in the triple jump at 37 feet, 10.25 inches.

Showing steady improvement throughout the season, Chelsea Fisher took fourth place in the shot put with a heave of 33 feet, 0.5 inches. Jordyn Tanke ran the sprints, taking third in the 100-meter dash in 13.32 seconds and fifth in the 200-meter dash in 27.72 seconds.

In the 4x100-meter relay, the team of Koralynne Kuch, Jordyn Tanke, Carley Williams and Hannah Schmidt took second place in a time of 54.46 seconds.

As described above, Koralynne Kuch, Hannah Schmidt, Chelsea Fisher and Jordyn Tanke grabbed the top spot in the 4x200-meter relay in a time of 1 minute, 52.1 seconds. The second-place team was only six-tenths of a second behind them.
