OHS chapter of FBLA gets first place at Nationals

The Odessa High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America sent 16 students to the national FBLA conference in San Antonio, Texas this summer, and the Chapter, as a whole, won first place for its Partnership with Business presentation. The group worked on a program with the 2nd Harvest Food Bank to provide backpacks filled with weekend take-home food for needy youngsters in area communities.

Also competing very well and coming in second in the category of Business Financial Plan was the team of Jared King, Koralynne Kuch and Cade Weber. The efforts by all the Odessa FBLA members and of those who qualified to make the trip to the national convention have culminated in the group’s most successful year yet.

As our issue of The Record goes to press early this week due to the July 4 holiday falling on a Wednesday, we will not have complete information on the national convention until next week.

We will have pictures from the national convention in San Antonio, as well as information on the qualifying rounds and how each of the sub-teams did in their particular categories. The photo at right is of the entire FBLA group following their successful presentations at the state FBLA convention in April of this year.

Odessa can certainly be proud of this energetic group of young people and of their accomplishments. Not only have they worked hard to hone their presentations, they have also worked just as hard raising funds to support their travel to San Antonio.
