INCIDENT LOG

Editor's note: Most items in this section reflect the starting point for response by local police and emergency agencies. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.

July 9: A lightning strike set a tree on fire in the Neal Canyon area near Wilbur.

Deputies were unable to locate a vehicle that a caller reported had run off Jones Bay Road and down a steep grade.

A caller asked for additional patrols on Douglas Road after reporting suspicious vehicles at grain elevators in the area.

Deputies investigated a reported sex offense in the Sprague area.

A "fair amount" of damage occurred to a truck in the wake of a two-vehicle collision on Level Road in the Green and Mill Canyon area.

A caller advised that two men came on his Mill Canyon Road property without permission and verbally threatened him.

Dispatchers took a report of fireworks being set off in front of Trinity Bible Fellowship near Jahn Field in Davenport.

Wilbur Police were told about an allegedly "reckless" young driver who, according to a caller, "never stops at stop signs."

Odessa Police investigated a man's report of receiving harassing text messages.

July 10: A caller told dispatchers she found a baby eagle that had fallen out of a tree near Seven Bays.

A natural gas leak was reported at the Rocklyn Medical Supply building in Davenport. Personnel from Avista Utilities joined Davenport firefighters in response.

A Davenport woman reported her juvenile daughter missing.

A caller reported trespassing had occurred on property he owns in Sprague.

Despite a report to the contrary, a responding deputy determined that dogs in a backyard pen at a Washington Street residence in Davenport were nourished and not neglected.

Davenport firefighters responded to a barbecue fire that got out of control and threatened a residence near the Mexican restaurant on Morgan Street. The fire eventually burned itself out, but water damage was reported.

A Denny Station Road property owner advised that neighbor cows were "constantly" on his property.

Two men in a vehicle "doing brodies" in the yard of a Waukon Road residence were reportedly screaming their "love" for someone who lives there.

July 11: Responding deputies determined that a large plane reportedly flying low over Davenport that appeared to be on the verge of crashing actually was a military cargo plane doing maneuvers.

Deputies investigated a reported sex offense in the Creston area.

Despite a report of a neglected horse on property off SR 2 near Wilbur, a responding deputy determined the animal was healthy and had food and water.

Two vehicles collided at Morgan and Sixth streets in Davenport.

A Maxwell Street resident was advised by a deputy to get her dogs licensed with the City of Davenport.

A Sprague woman told dispatchers she confronted a young man who had followed her home that night.

Wilbur Police responded to a theft report at Sandy's Family Foods.

A resident of NW Cliff advised Wilbur Police that his pickup truck had been damaged by a hit and run driver.

A South Alder Street resident reported "multiple" barking dogs at night in his neighborhood.

July 12: A caller filed a report of fraud involving his debit card.

A recklessly driven flatbed truck was observed swerving all over the roadway and almost hitting a guardrail coming into Davenport on SR 2 before pulling into Mick's Auto.

District Court personnel told deputies that a man became extremely loud while yelling at his public defender in the lobby.

After its front wheel blew out, a water truck was involved in a rollover collision on SR 21 about three miles north of Wilbur. The driver was transported to Coulee Medical Center for treatment of injuries suffered.

Davenport Post Office personnel found a wallet in the mail collection box there. It was given to the Sheriff's Office to be returned to the owner by mail.

A deputy determined that a "suspicious man" with a clipboard observed on Main Street in Davenport appeared to be checking trees in backyards and may have been looking for work as a tree cutter.

A worker at Rocklyn Medical Supply, where a natural gas leak had occurred two days before, became ill and drove herself to Lincoln Hospital in Davenport. Occupants of nearby buildings were advised to check for problems in their ventilation systems.

A caller advised that a dog had chased her horse for the second time on property adjacent to Hart Road.

Deputies investigated the theft of a gold ring and two necklaces from an Alder Street residence in Sprague.

A Rambo Road resident advised that her daughter had received threats on Facebook.

A man was arrested at the Porcupine Bay campground for allegedly violating a protection order.

Wilbur Police were called on to help a SE Regent Avenue resident who had locked herself out of her house.

Odessa Police investigated a domestic violence assault at a South Cedar residence.

Reardan Police weren't immediately able to locate a "suspicious" man a caller saw in her front yard on East Spokane Avenue.

July 13: Deputies assisted a man while he moved about 60 cattle across Miles Creston Road near SR 2.

A woman told dispatchers about a suspicious flashing light visible from a window at her home in the 700 block of Thirteenth Street in Davenport.

A caller shared his suspicions that a 4-wheeler was being driven on Doerschlag and other county roads at night.

A Hawk Creek woman reported she was being harassed.

Logs on a semi-truck appeared to be coming loose while the rig traveled on SR 2 near Sherman Draw Road east of Wilbur.

A Sprague woman told dispatchers she almost hit a 7-year-old child who ran in front of her car as she drove in the 300 block of E Street.

A crew from the Airway Heights prison was involved in fighting a fire north of Davenport.

A caller advised that a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train was throwing sparks while traveling through the Mohler area.

A power outage was reported in Wilbur.

Odessa Police investigated a possible harassment incident.

July 14: A Harrington man reported damage to a satellite dish at a residence in the 300 block of West Sherlock Avenue.

A deputy removed a dead owl from SR 2 near Wilbur.

Deputies joined National Park Service and Grand Coulee police in responding to a domestic situation at a Spring Canyon campsite.

A caller reported that a man had tried to hit on her teenage daughter while both were at the Sprague city park.

Heavy rain washed out three primitive county roads in the Odessa area: Schlimmer from Kiner to Janke, Schorzman from Lentz to Schlimmer, and Lentz from Schorzman to Janke. Public Works personnel closed the roads until repairs could be made.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe crews reported a "heavyset" woman appeared to be trying to jump on tracks in the Lamona area when trains were going through. A responding deputy wasn't able to locate her and no additional incidents were reported.

A collision involving a vehicle and deer was reported on SR 2 about four miles from Davenport.

Fireworks were reportedly being set in an area east of Sinclair Street in Davenport. A responding deputy determined that a 10-year-old was shooting them off while his grandfather wasn't watching.

Egypt firefighters were sent to a small grass fire along Moose Meadow Lane in the Porcupine Bay Estates area.

Odessa Police responded to reports of flooding on East First Street after almost two inches of rain had fallen.

July 15: Six juveniles were discovered building a dam in Cottonwood Creek near Tenth and Sinclair streets in Davenport. A city crew recently finished removing debris and garbage that blocked the flow of water. A responding deputy noted that the children were under supervision and weren't putting large items into the creek.

An individual was cited for illegal possession of fireworks after a deputy made a traffic stop near the Reardan AgLink facility.

A caller advised that a blue car with racing stripes just passed six cars on SR 2 near Davenport and almost caused a head-on collision.
