Emergency Response Center in Sprague breaks ground

The official groundbreaking ceremony for the new Sprague Emergency Response Center took place Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at 124 Old Airport Road in Sprague.

“After years of planning and financial support from the community, local businesses, state and federal agencies, we are excited and pleased to have the construction underway,” said Fire Chief Clemenson.

The new 11,842 square foot center will provide an emergency operation center for use in the event of large incidents in the region, as well as 24-hour facilities for firefighters, emergency medical technicians and law enforcement. This will improve response times and capabilities for over 200 square miles of Lincoln County, including the City of Sprague and 17 miles of Interstate 90.

“The Sprague Emergency Response Center will be a tremendous addition to Lincoln County and our gateway to the Interstate 90 corridor,” said Lincoln County Commissioner Scott Hutsell. “It has been great to see how well people worked together from the federal to the state and to the local level. Everyone saw the need for this facility and how important it was for the area.”

The construction contract was awarded to Kearsley Construction of Spokane Valley, with the total cost of the project to be $2,529,515. The new Emergency Response Center is expected to open in July of 2013.
