The Odessa Chamber of Commerce would like some feedback from its members on meeting times that might allow for greater participation.
Some proposals included a breakfast meeting beginning at 7 a.m., a mid-afternoon meeting at around 2 p.m. when it might be easier for business owners to get away for an hour or so or evenings (although most evenings are already taken up by meetings of various other groups).
Any other suggestions are welcome. Call Chamber president Marlon Schafer at 988-0260.
Noon meeting, 11/27
The Odessa Chamber of Commerce met Tuesday at noon at Any Occasion Banquet Hall.
Treasurer Larissa Zeiler reported on a $200 donation from the Evie Weber memorial fund to go toward the commercial kitchen now under construction at the Odessa Community Center.
Lindsy Starkel reported on her efforts to find a plumbing contractor to install sinks, drain lines and the like. Kysar Mechanical of Davenport submitted a $7,000 bid for the job.
Starkel expressed concern that the window between events scheduled at the community center might be too small for the work to be completed, but she was hoping that everything would go smoothly.
President Marlon Schafer wanted to get word out to the owners of the various food booths damaged in the recent vandalism spree that the booths now need to be re-secured. Leaving them unsecured raises liability concerns.
