Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
The Thanksgiving dinner celebrated potluck-style at the Old Town Hall last Thursday was a rousing success. This second annual event just about doubled in size compared to last year, so it would appear that the idea is catching on.
Family groups, single folks, empty nesters and people from all parts of the community were represented.
The turkeys were supplied by the Odessa Masonic Lodge and the Odessa Food Bank. Several people, thinking they were supplying potatoes for the entire crowd, brought large containers full. Others brought enough food to feed an army. There were salads: green salads, fruit salads, macaroni salads, and so on. There were yams. There was stuffing, a huge pan full. There were pumpkin pies, enough for every person present to enjoy a piece if they so chose. There were fruit pies, too.
And once the eating was done and the dishes were washed, the tables were cleared for game-playing and conversation.
Some folks were there visiting family, as well as getting to know some of the newer people in town. There was never a truly quiet time after the dinner. There was laughter, sharing of stories and jokes, and a feeling of warmth and congeniality that permeated the Old Town Hall.
