BBCC Foundation seeking scholarship applications

Big Bend Community College Foundation scholarship applications for 2013-14 are available now in the Financial Aid Office and in local high school counseling offices.

The deadline is March 15 for receiving completed applications in the Financial Aid Office. Only completed applications submitted by that date will be considered.

The Foundation awards approximately $142,000 in scholarships to 140 students each year, said LeAnne Parton, Executive Director of the BBCC Foundation.

“The Foundation has scholarship opportunities for high school graduates, professional/technical, transfer, and part-time students,” said Parton.

This year the Foundation combined all its scholarships (more than 70) in one application form. Applicants need to check closely for opportunities related to their educational goals, and apply for awards based on criteria provided for each scholarship. Applicants need three current letters of recommendation and a copy of high school/college transcripts to apply for BBCC Foundation Scholarships.

The BBCC Foundation’s ability to increase awards and expand the reach of its scholarship program is made possible by the generous supporters of Cellarbration! – the Foundation’s scholarship fund-raiser held in May. The event has raised more than $800,000 for scholarships in the last 11 years.

Contact the BBCC Financial Aid Office at 793-2034 or the Foundation Office at 793-2004 for more information.
