Meat-processing plant coming
First of all, we regret to inform you that there is only silence on the IEO front. No word from anyone, except when the Bankruptcy Court sends out legal notices to all of us who are creditors (almost every business in town, it would appear).
Odessa's other big project, however, is about to break ground as soon as weather permits. The meat-processing facility under project manager Sue Lani Madsen of Edwall is taking shape, both on paper and in terms of obtaining capital and gearing up for production.
Area livestock producers appear to be supporting the project with their dollars, as well as with promotional efforts to find other investors.
The design work has been completed, and the building will be state of the art. Most of the issues with water and electrical power have been resolved with the Town of Odessa and the power company, as well as the state and federal agencies.
Maybe fresh, locally grown meat will be an easier sell to the public than biofuel. We can only hope that the plant is a success.
