Spring
Spring has not yet sprung, despite the wishes of gardening fanatics everywhere. A couple of warm afternoons do not make for a spring thaw. The night-time temperatures continue to drop well below freezing. Every morning we look out and see frost covering most everything.
But February is the month that reminds us, with those occasional warm afternoons, that it won't be long before the buds will be bursting out and greenery will be poking up out of the brown earth. And a little past midway through March, the seasons officially change, and winter turns to spring on the calendar, even if the weather doesn't always cooperate.
It is going to be a very busy spring with many events planned throughout the town in March, April and May. It will be time to show your support to various civic groups, all in need of additional funds to help them make it through the lean economic times we face. So we'll see you at the banquets and fundraisers and award dinners and Spring Fling and the motorcycle races and the quilt show and, surely we've forgotten something, haven't we?
One last question. How are we fat Americans supposed to lose weight with all this feasting going on?
