Monday, March 18: Davenport and Seven Bays firefighters handled a fire along Hawk Creek Road North that began as a controlled burn but went partially out of control as a result of windy conditions.
Odessa ambulance personnel assisted a man who had suffered a diabetic seizure. Davenport ambulance personnel and Reardan EMTs were sent to help a woman having a seizure and a 91-year-old woman who had fallen at her residence north of Reardan.
Who should maintain a fence to keep cattle away from railroad tracks near Stutheit Road in the Davenport area has become the focus of a dispute involving a local property owner and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, dispatchers were advised.
Davenport deputies handled three code enforcement violations reported in the 900 block of Marshall and Maxwell streets.
Tuesday, March 19: A caller reported a horse had been attacked by dogs or coyotes on property adjacent to Moore Road near its intersection with Fisher Road. The horse had to be put down due to its injuries.
Harrington ambulance personnel transported a 47-year-old man to Lincoln Hospital in Davenport from his residence in the 100 block of North First, where he is thought to have suffered a possible heart attack.
A Davenport man told a deputy someone has been stealing cigarettes from a vehicle parked in the 1000 block of Marshall Street.
Deputies investigated reports of a boy bullying young children in the Almira area. According to school personnel, the victims have been choked, punched in the groin and forced to get him candy and other items from a local vendor.
Deputies looked for a motorcyclist who allegedly drove recklessly throughout the Harrington city limits. In Odessa, an older man was observed driving a vehicle in a reckless manner on a sidewalk near the post office.
After dispatchers received a suspicious 911 emergency call, a deputy went to a residence in the 800 block of Main Street in Davenport where he discovered a 2-year-old child playing with the phone.
Wilbur Police assisted a 14-year-old girl who may have dislocated her knee while at Emerson Park.
A truck driver was arrested on traffic-related charges after Wilbur Police were called to a local motel where a clerk advised that a man asked her how to locate a prostitute. The man subsequently showed her a naked photo of himself and asked her to service him for money.
Wednesday, March 20: A tree fell across the roadway at Indian Creek and Larene roads.
Sprague ambulance personnel assisted a 34-year-old woman in the 300 block of West Oak after she accidentally sprayed a fabric weather proofing product in her eyes.
Davenport deputies processed city code violations involving unlicensed vehicles and excessive garbage in the 1000 block of Adams and Jefferson streets.
A caller told dispatchers her vehicle ran out of gas at the Davenport Post Office.
Damaged sheet metal and plywood were signs that someone had backed into the rear of the Davenport Safeway store.
A Harrington woman received a fraudulent phone call from someone claiming to be her grandson and in need of money to be wired.
A downtown Davenport store employee reported she was groped while waiting on a boy in his late teens.
Wilbur Police did a welfare check on a resident of the 500 block of NW Armstrong Avenue who had been drinking alcohol alone.
Wilbur Police advised a boy found inside the local cemetery that it is closed at sunset.
Thursday, March 21: A woman who lives in the 1000 block of Logan Street in Davenport reported excessive noise from an apartment above her was interfering with her ability to sleep at night.
Deputies investigated a theft incident at the Ritzville Warehouse grain elevator on Doerschlag Road near Sprague.
A large boulder, estimated to weigh three or four tons, blocked traffic on Green Canyon Road until county Public Works personnel removed it with a front-end loader.
Stopped by Wilbur Police at the intersection of SR 21 and 174, a driver explained he went "so fast" through Wilbur because he was on the way to see a dying grandmother in Grand Coulee.
Friday, March 22: Davenport ambulance assisted a 49-year-old woman who lost consciousness.
Someone drilled out a lock to gain entry into the Bureau of Land Management shop at Fishtrap, but nothing was reported stolen.
A collision involving a deer and a Creston school bus took place on Miles Creston Road.
Deputies located a 3-year-old boy who didn't return home after walking a dog in the vicinity of Hart and Teel Hill roads north of Davenport.
A computer tablet was reported stolen from a residence on Rebel Ridge Lane.
Deputies investigated threats reportedly made against a woman in Davenport.
Deputies dealt with a man who was observed staring at a house behind the Davenport Presbyterian Church for as long as 10 to 15 minutes.
A Davenport boy came to the sheriff's office to ask for a ride home after explaining another boy had made threats against him.
Lincoln Hospital personnel requested assistance after a woman told them she had been sexually abused. The alleged victim later asked that law enforcement not become involved in the matter.
A deputy responded to the 1000 block of Merriam Street in Davenport, where a "juvenile problem" had been reported.
Making sure no alcohol was being consumed, a deputy checked out a group that "camped out" - with a fire pit - in the Davenport High School "horseshoe" parking area in anticipation of the following morning's Little Guys wrestling tournament.
A deputy secured assurance that a washer and dryer found in the street at Park and Sixth in Davenport would be removed in the morning.
Reardan Police cited a man for negligent driving after a vehicle was clocked at more than 55 mph on East Columbia Avenue just north of SR 2 and another man for driving while license suspended after a vehicle was observed crossing both lines after turning north on SR 231.
Saturday, March 23: Sprague ambulance personnel responded to the scene of a one-vehicle rollover collision on I-90.
A bicycle reported stolen from outside Davenport Elementary School was located at Sixth and Merriam streets.
A caller reported damage to a field on Addington Road, believed to be caused by a bulldozer that pushed dirt over winter wheat planted there. A responding deputy advised that the road itself also appeared torn up, possibly by vehicles that were driven in violation of road restrictions earlier this year.
Excessive noise and partying were reported from the center of the Fort Spokane campgrounds, where responding deputies advised campsite occupants to "keep it down."
Sunday, March 24: While playing with the phone, a 2-year-old girl dialed 911 and hung up; a dispatcher returned the call and spoke with the child's mother.
Burlington Northern Santa Fe personnel repaired a malfunctioning railroad crossing arm near Stone Road in the Harrington area.
A caller reported six dogs chased cattle on property adjacent to Sterrett Road North near Davenport.
Two vehicles were involved in a collision at King Ranch and Weber roads near Odessa. No injuries were reported, but a county road sign was damaged.
A man legitimately at a rented residence to clean it up for a property management company was confronted by about five neighbors in the 300 block of North Aspen in Reardan who thought he was trying to break in.
A second-offense dog at-large citation was issued by a deputy responding to an ongoing problem involving a dog found in yards other than its own in the 1000 block of Eighth Street in Davenport.

Criminal Disposition
Justin Robert Derby, 26, of Iowa, pleaded guilty March 19 to four counts of second-degree burglary and one count of attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle in connection with incidents on Jan. 30-31 and Feb. 1. Through plea negotiations, additional charges of third-degree theft (four counts), malicious mischief (three counts) and possession of a dangerous weapon ("metal knuckles") were dismissed. The charges involved the taking of items and cash during break-ins at several locations in Sprague, Harrington and Edwall, including Cederblom's and Harrington Foods. His sentence included 60 months in prison, $800 court costs and $982.42 restitution ($145 to Kathy's Market in Sprague, $682.42 to Harrington Truck and Auto, and $150 to David Jones of Sprague). Reimbursement of $766 in attorney fees and expenses also was ordered. Video surveillance and footprints in the snow outside the Sprague store was used by deputies in their investigation.

Ryan S. Gonwick, of Harrington, must return $446.26 in overpaid benefits to the Washington State Employment Security Department.

When neither party appeared for a March 19 hearing, the court denied a request by Molly Jean Savelesky, of Harrington, for a domestic violence protection order against Randolf Evans.
