Lorus Ray "Bud" Haase

Bud Haase died May 5, 2013 in Spokane at the age of 74.

He was born August 19, 1938, in Odessa to Herbert Daniel Haase and Ella N. (Getzinger) Haase. Bud lived on the family farm until he was nine years old. At that time the family moved into Odessa. Bud lettered in basketball in high school. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1956 and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Army, stationed at Ft. Lewis.

He married Judy (Graedel) in 1959 and they and had 3 children. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Besides working the family farm he had various odd jobs throughout the winter months. He married Joyce (Wraspir) in 1978. She brought two daughters to the marriage.

Once health issues forced him to retire, he started finding new hobbies. Bud had his buddies over, and they played cards in his basement. He continued to cruise around town in his El Camino. He enjoyed working in his yard and the last few years he developed a love for reading and enjoyed many inspirational books.

Bud was proud to be known as “Papa” to all the grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. He is survived by his wife Joyce (Wraspir) Haase, children Heidi Farnam of Las Vegas, Hal Haase (Ronda) of Gig Harbor, Wash. and Koley Haase (Dina) of Moses Lake, step-children Michelle Pries of Redmond, Wash., and Dawnelle Patterson (Jon) of Kirkland, Wash. 11 grandchildren, five great- grandchildren, four sisters, Geraldine King (Bud) of Odessa, Joyce Tolf (Ron) of Mt. Vernon, Wash., Cheryl Sacco (Tom) of Everett, Wash., and Terri Schmierer (Gary) of Odessa, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Ella, and daughter-in-law Penny (Lobe) Haase.

Bud was a member of Heritage Church. Memorial services were held May 10, 2013 at Heritage Church in Odessa. Memorials can be made to the Odessa Museum: Odessa Historical Society c/o Sherie Heimbigner, P.O. Box 130 Odessa WA 99159, or to Heritage Church, 302 S. First St., Odessa WA 99159.

A special thank you to Pastor Jon Hayashi who helped Bud through his last few years. He is at peace because of him.
