Possible program coming for Odessa's senior citizens

Do you need to get healthy? The Aging and Adult Care Program called Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL) is looking for participants, someone to teach and a few attendees for the class. Anyone interested in the program should come for a discussion September 11 (Wednesday), at 12:30 p.m. in the Old Town Hall.

Karen Bruggman, program coordinator for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program of North Central Washington (RSVP of NCW), which covers Grant, Adams, Lincoln, Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan counties, is partnering with Aging and Adult Care in trying to start a fall-prevention SAIL class at the Odessa Senior Center. She was recently in contact with Beth Whidby, a retired nurse who spoke recently to members at the Senior Center about fall prevention.

Information about the program is being sent for discussion at the Odessa group’s next meeting. If someone to teach can be found and a few participants sign up to take the class, Bruggman said, it would be a great asset to the Odessa senior center. Classes can be as large as 30 or as small as 4-7 through the NCW.
