Cheif Helen Coubra attends five-day management courese

According to Odessa Mayor Doug Plinski, the Town of Odessa is very proud to recognize Chief Coubra for being selected to join the ranks of 250 rural law enforcement executives from across the country. Chief Coubra was among 29 other rural law enforcement chiefs and sheriffs from Texas, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon and Washington who were invited to attend a federally funded class in Spokane, September 29 through October 3, 2013.

The National Center for Rural Law Enforcement has successfully delivered advanced management education through its Rural Executive Management Institute (REMI), a one-week educational program specifically designed for this group of law enforcement executives.

REMI is a five-day course that mirrors the educational programs currently available to urban departments and foreign law enforcement officials through the National Executive Institute and the Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Through REMI, the NCRLE brings excellence in management education to the chief executives of rural law enforcement-a group often ignored when this type of education is presented. The course will be offered both in the western and eastern areas of the United States.

REMI instructors are selected from a nationwide database of experts who are renowned in their field. The topics for this course include leadership, management, employee retention, the political environment, coalition building, and other subjects pertinent to rural law enforcement.
