O-H girls varsity basketball team splits weekend games

Head coach Kim Kruger said of the season’s first games, “The girls played very well [last] weekend, showing that they are starting to have a better understanding of what I am wanting them to do. I’m looking forward to a great year.”

Republic

Additional information on the Republic game is included here, as it arrived too late for inclusion in last week’s paper. Lanessa Simon had 3 rebounds, 3 assists; Hannah Schmidt 6 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals; Jordyn Tanke 13 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals; Cydnee Kieffer 5 points, 4 rebounds; Shelbey Watkins 2 rebounds; Casey Schlomer 10 points, 17 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 steals; Katie DeWulf 6 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals.

There was no JV game played against Moses Lake Christian in the other game played the previous weekend.

Soap Lake

In a non-league game against Soap Lake played in Odessa on Friday, December 13, the Titans gained another victory, 56-35.

Simon and DeWulf combined for 14 points each to pace the Titans. Simon also had 1 rebound and 1 assist; DeWulf 9 rebounds and 1 steal. Kaeli Shockley had 2 points; Schmidt 9 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals; Tanke 2 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals; Kieffer 7 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 6 steals; Schlomer 10 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals; Nighswonger 1 rebound.

Davenport

On December 14, the Titans played a home game in Harrington against Davenport. This game was a non-league contest pitting the Titans against a larger 2B school.

Schlomer scored 9 points to lead the Titans, also providing 8 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals. Tanke had 8 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist and 5 steals; Kieffer 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals; DeWulf 6 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals; Simon 5 points, 1 assist and 2 steals; Schmidt 1 assist, 1 steal.

The next game is in Curlew on Saturday, December 21, beginning at 3 p.m.
