Titan varsity girls win one, lost two in last week's play

The Titan varsity girls had a mixed week, losing two games and winning one heading into the final regular season games. So far, they have had a much better season than they had last year.

The varsity girls very nearly came back to win what turned out to be a one-point loss to the Almira-Coulee/Hartline Warriors on Tuesday, January 14. After trailing most of the game, the girls made a surge in the fourth quarter to take the lead briefly before ACH made a final basket and time ran out.

Cydnee Kieffer led the fairly balanced scoring attack with 10 points, 1 rebound, 8 steals. Hannah Schmidt had 8 points, 2 rebounds, 3 steals; Lanessa Simon 6 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 5 steals; Casey Schlomer 4 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals; Katie DeWulf 3 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals; Jordyn Tanke 2 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals.

Wellpinit

Against Wellpinit on Friday, January 17, the Titan girls were more successful, getting the win, 41-36.

DeWulf led the scoring with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, while Kieffer followed right behind with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist 4 steals. Simon had 8 points, 1 rebound, 4 steals; Schmidt 6 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals; Tanke 4 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists; Schlomer 6 rebounds, 1 steal.

Wilbur/Creston

Saturday’s game against Wilbur-Creston was played in Creston, and the Titans took a beating at the hands of the Wildcats, 45-71.
