Letter to the Editor; GOP judgement of President Obama's record

To the Editor:

An Odessa friend sent me a January 9 copy of a letter to your paper. The letter was signed Duane Pitts of Moses Lake. Since I have a dear relative that teaches in that district and since Odessa and Moses Lake are on the same side of the state, I might question the values imparted to those students. If Mr. Pitts is a product of that education system, low information voter comes to mind. His dismissive judgment on GOP efforts lacks a bit of balance.

He blames the GOP for shutting down the government. I know those poor mistreated government employees probably cried all the way to the bank as they got paid for not showing up. He also failed to mention that the GOP controls the House, and the Senate and executive branches are in the Dems hands. Orders from the White House to put up a fence around the WWII memorial, where no fence had ever been, was disgraceful. At the same time the Washington Mall was opened to an amnesty rally for illegals.

Let us thank the Dems for going along with the most destructive economic policy ever. Government figures say that unemployment is down to under 7%. Yet, 90 million people are out of jobs. The Wall Street Journal this week reported the real rate is 37%! A trillion dollar stimulus that did nothing; $48 million on food stamps; $7-plus trillion added to the deficit; lowest employment participation rate since WWII. Ignoring the immediate employment of 41,000 for the XL pipeline with thousands of jobs to come, and to placate the green lobby, $575 million given to Solyndra which after spending the money they filed bankruptcy.

And we can’t forget the most destructive bill in U.S. history, the misnamed Affordable Care Act, passed without a single GOP vote. Obamacare set to take over one-sixth of the economy. A law that no one wanted, we can’t afford and in most cases, we can’t even enroll in.

Michelle’s college buddy, running a company from Canada, without any other bids, got the job of creating the website (IBM offered to do it for free) for only $3/4 billion! 6.5 million insured had their plans canceled with more to come. Part-time is now the norm in the work place because of penalties imposed by the AFC.

We must thank the Dems for putting amnesia pills in Obama’s Kool-aid. It is working! Obama can’t remember where he was when our four brave men were killed in Libya. I think possibly Hillary (what difference does it make) also swallowed some of the potion. He can’t remember about the gun-running Fast and Furious episode, nor the NSA spying on all of us and foreign leaders. He was not aware that Lois (slow) Lerner was targeting conservative groups in an IRS scam. He surely was not aware of spying on FOX newsman James Rosen. He can’t even recall going to the radical racist preacher Jeremiah Wright’s church in Chicago. He didn’t even know that the man he nominated for green jobs czar was Van Jones, an admitted communist.

He couldn’t remember that you were not supposed to bow to King Abdullah of Soudi Arabia; this was improper protocol (I seem to remember that 17 of the 19 Islamic terrorists that crashed the planes into the World Trade Center were Saudis).

In the spirit of fairness, I must agree with the Dems that his greatest accomplishment was just after receiving the Nobel Peace Prize for getting elected; he jetted off to Europe to pitch his plea to get the 2016 Olympic Games for Chicago. As he usually does, he led from behind and out of four countries vying to hold the games, Obama’s plea did not work; he didn’t win, place or show. He came in fourth! Just think how much money he saved the city of Chicago and the U.S. taxpayers by not having to build one-time sports facilities in the billions of dollars.

I think this is his legacy. If only he would go play golf for the next three years we all would be better off.
