The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.

Monday, March 3: Sprague ambulance personnel were sent to the 300 block of 5th Street to assist a man who may have suffered a heart attack.

Two vehicle slide-offs were reported on SR 2 near the Lincoln County Transfer Station about three miles west of Davenport.

An enclosed trailer containing three motorcycles, a lawn mower and miscellaneous tools was reported stolen from property on East Kellum Road.

A man reported receiving a phone call from someone claiming to be a police officer who told him his grandson was in jail and that $2,000 was needed immediately for his bail. He followed instructions to purchase cash cards from Rite Aid and relay the numbers on the back to a phone number with which he was provided. The fraud victim subsequently learned that his grandson, a WSU student, hadn't been in jail.

Tuesday, March 4: Creston emergency personnel assisted a woman who suffered a possible back injury after a one-vehicle collision on SR 2 near there. She was transported to Lincoln Hospital in Davenport.

A Davenport woman reported losing a cell phone near Davenport High School.

A caller reported seeing individuals removing cabinets from a vacant residence at Third and Main streets in Davenport and putting them in a truck.

Three horses were chased by a pit bull dog in the vicinity of Sunrise Lane near Davenport.

Emergency medical personnel from Reardan and Davenport were sent to the 100 block of West Summit in Reardan to assist a man who had a seizure and later died.

Wednesday, March 5: Flooding prompted the closure of SR 231 from Reardan north to the Spokane River.

Debris was reported piling up against a bridge at the intersection of SR 2 and SE Bell Street in Wilbur.

A Sprague man advised a 16-foot car trailer, on which a tool box and wench were mounted, was stolen from the 600 block of West 3rd.

A collision involving a vehicle and deer was reported on SR 25 just north of Teel Hill Road.

Water over the roadway was reported at three separate locations on SR 231 in the Edwall area and on SR 25 at Gunning Road near Davenport.

After a caller advised someone was removing metal from the Inland Northwest Railway Museum site adjacent to SR 2 west of Reardan, authorities determined they were employees of Eastern Washington Gateway Railroad and permitted to do so.

A Davenport man reported someone had written "Why not steal from your neighbor? God says so, that's why" with a marker on an apartment door in the 1300 block of Logan Street.

Deputies assisted an elderly woman who appeared disoriented while walking in the 700 block of Thirteenth Street in Davenport.

A caller expressed concern about the possibility of a sexual offender living in the Sprague city limits.

Responding to a possible domestic situation on property adjacent to SR 21 in the Wilbur area, three deputies arrested a man for violating a no-contact order. The initial report described a man was "screaming, shouting and breaking things."

Thursday, March 6: Bluestem Road between Edwall and Wollweber Road was closed due to flooding. A section of SR 23 between Edwall and Sprague also was closed.

Corrections deputies found contraband in four of six cells in the county jail they had searched.

A caller reported the theft of about $100 in firewood from a residence in the 800 block of Morgan Street in Davenport.

Spotting the suspect vehicle parked at Lincoln Hospital in Davenport, a deputy caught up with a driver who was observed running a stop sign at SR 25 and Porcupine Bay Road and got his assurance it wouldn't happen again.

Law enforcement was advised of a series of threatening phone calls made to Superior Court Judge John Strohmaier.

Deputies investigated a possible trespassing and theft incident on property adjacent to Wilson Road East in the Odessa area.

A Davenport woman reported receiving harassing phone calls and text messages from two men who claimed they left money in her vehicle and want it returned. The woman says their claim is false.

Friday, March 7: Wilbur ambulance personnel assisted a 66-year-old man who needed help after apparently laying on the ground for 10 hours. Later, the crew assisted an 81-year-old man, a chemotherapy patient, who had been vomiting.

A county patrol vehicle overheated and became disabled while responding to an alarm at the Harrington school.

Responding to a domestic assault report at F and Main streets, deputies arrested a Sprague man who allegedly choked a family member and repeatedly threw him to the ground. Alcohol may have been a factor.

Deputies responded to a dispute involving occupants of an apartment in the 1300 block of Logan Street in Davenport.

Saturday, March 8: The driver of a fully loaded lumber semi-truck parked across from the Mondovi elevator scales was advised that county road restrictions had been activated and that he had an hour to move it to a paved portion of Sunset Highway.

The body of a dog, believed to have been shot in the head, was discovered in a creek near the intersection of Cline Road East and SR 25.

Several tools were reported stolen from a residence on Moore Road North.

A woman's vehicle was demolished after colliding with a deer on SR 2 about five miles west of Wilbur.

"Fuzzy" telephone reception was reported in the Odessa area.

Sunday, March 9: A deputy checked out a report of a 4-year-old child in a Davenport residence "with people taking drugs and had not eaten in several days." Invited inside by the occupants, the officer found plenty of food on hand.

A man told dispatchers he had received an email containing a death threat. Its origin was South Africa.

Items were taken from a house on Zwainz Road that had been broken into.

A caller reported a man in the 300 block of SW C Street in Creston was shooting a .22 firearm near parked vehicles.

Deputies dealt with an unwanted person at a residence in the 700 block of Maxwell Street in Davenport.

A Wilbur man advised an unlicensed trailer, made from an old pickup truck, had been stolen from property adjacent to SR 21.

A sparking wire coming out of the ground was reported in the 1000 block of Sinclair Street in Davenport.

A Sprague woman told dispatchers she shot a black lab dog that she found chasing a horse in the vicinity of the 400 block of A Street.

A woman involved in a one-vehicle rollover collision on SR 2 near Wilbur told deputies she had been run off the road by a gold SUV.

A Creston woman found herself locked out of a vehicle. Dogs were inside for at least five hours.

Responding to the 100 block of North A Street, Creston ambulance personnel assisted an 80-year-old woman with breathing difficulties.

Law officers from Lincoln, Adams and Spokane counties, with assistance from the Washington State Patrol, pursued a possibly suicidal 17-year-old boy in a pickup truck after he allegedly pointed a gun and shot in the air in the vicinity of Weber Road near Odessa. Later described as "holding a gun to his head," he was transported to the Martin Hall juvenile facility.

A caller observed two camouflaged men in a blue Jeep spotlighting deer on the Old Sprague Highway near Brown Road between Sprague and Fishtrap.

Criminal Sentencings

Michael Wayne Brimberry, 43, Creston, pleaded guilty Feb. 18 to second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. He must serve 30 days jail (3 credited as served), pay $800 court costs and $435.20 attorney fees, and forfeit evidence seized by deputies responding to a Sept. 22, 2013, dispute between two men in the vicinity of Wild Turkey Lane in the Creston area.

Kenneth A. Siegwarth, 21, Almira, pleaded guilty Feb. 18 to first-degree criminal trespass (amended through plea negotiations from residential burglary). He must pay $310.39 restitution to an Almira woman, $700 court costs and $381.20 attorney fees, complete 12 months probation, and stay away from the residence in the 100 block of North 7th in Almira, that was "ransacked" and from which a toolbox and an electronic game system were taken on June 26, 2013.

Steven Glenn Kittelson, 43, Cheney, pleaded guilty March 4 to residential burglary, second-degree theft and second-degree burglary (amended through plea negotiations from two counts each of residential burglary and second-degree theft). He was sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison and must pay a share of $129,080.70 restitution, along with $800 court costs. The charges involve incidents at two Sprague residences, a Ritzville Warehouse facility and Mainline Rock and Ballast in February and March of last year.

Stephen Lawrence Murphy, 34, Davenport, pleaded guilty March 4 to second-degree possession of stolen property (amended through plea negotiations from residential burglary and second-degree burglary). He must serve 18 months in prison, pay $800 court costs and a share of $4,750 restitution to the Davenport man whose residence on SR 25 was broken into on Feb. 14, 2013, with lawnmowers, other equipment and tools reported stolen. The defendant's gun rights also were revoked by the court.

James Michael Brigman, 31, Fruitland, pleaded guilty March 4 to unlawful possession of a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle (amended through plea negotiations from unlawful possession of a firearm). He must complete 10 days jail or electronic home monitoring and pay $450 court costs and $1,050.50 attorney fees. The charge involves a Nov. 8, 2013, traffic stop in Reardan.

Civil Judgments

The court on March 4 granted a domestic violence protection order requested by Sydney Nicole Meyers, of Wilbur, against Stephen Lee Myers, of Nespelem. He is restricted from any phone, personal or texting contact with the petitioner, who was allowed "exclusive use" of the residence in the 600 block of NW Cole.

Erik E. Foreman, doing business as Foreman Construction in Davenport, must pay $4,955.76 in tax obligations owed to the Washington State Department of Revenue for the third and fourth quarters of 2013.

Martin and Glinski, doing business as The Viking Drive-In in Sprague, must pay $1,028.91 in tax obligations owed to the Washington State Department of Revenue for September and December, 2013.

New Criminal Cases

Daniel Ross Thompson, 40, Reardan, is charged with second-degree burglary and second-degree theft in connection with the loss of tool boxes, a car battery, coinage, firearms and a computer reported between Jan. 22 and 29 from property on Bisson Road East in the Reardan area.

Darcy Jo Tomayko, 19, and her brother, Marcus Richard Tomayko, 22, both of Reardan, are charged with second-degree burglary and second-degree trafficking in stolen property in connection with a Feb. 12 report that some $400 worth of tools had been taken from a garage in the 200 block of East Spokane Street in Reardan. The items later were located at a Spokane pawn shop.

Brandon Wayne Kuehne, 31, Wilbur, was charged with escape from community custody when he failed to contact his probation officer on Feb. 21. The requirement was part of his March 2013 sentence for third-degree assault.
