Both the Odessa-Harrington girls and boys placed 10th at the Ray Cross Invitational track and field meet held in Ephrata last weekend. The meet included athletes from 23 teams: O-H, Ephrata, Moses Lake, Quincy, Othello, Umatilla, Liberty Bell, Bridgeport, Riverview, Connell, Cascade-Leavenworth, Royal, Waterville, Wahluke, Republic, Omak, Valley Christian (Spokane), A.C. Davis, Soap Lake, Curlew and Stanfield.
In the boys’ 100 meters, Sam Schafer took third place and Garrett Braun came in at 45th for the Titans. Jordyn Tanke was 6th and Carley Williams 42nd in the girl’s 100 meters.
The 200-meter race had Tanke again coming in 3rd, with Laness Simon close behind in 5th. For the boys, Schafer was again 3rd and Braun was 33rd.
In the 400 meters, Jacob DeWulf finished 25th while younger brother John DeWulf was 31st. For the girls, German exchange student Fee Pilger was 19th.
The 800 meters had Jacob DeWulf coming in 25th and Tyler Paris coming in 31st. No girls competed at 800 meters.
In the 1600 meters, Paris was 22nd. Again, the O-H girls had no entrants at this distance.
In the girls 4x100-meter relay, Hannah Schmidt, Jordyn Tanke, Lanessa Simon and Carley Williams came in third in a time of 55.27 seconds. The O-H boys did not enter this race.
John DeWulf finished in 14th place in the 300-meter hurdles. No O-H girls entered the event.
In the field events, Tanner Estep placed 30th in the shot put, with teammate Colby Sooy right behind him at 31st. In the girls’ shot put, Casey Schlomer was 11th.
In the discus, Sooy was 36th and Estep scratched and did not place. Schlomer grabbed 12th place for the girls.
Jacob DeWulf was 10th in the javelin and Schlomer was 4th for the girls.
In the high jump, no boys competed. Fee Pilger for the girls scratched and did not place.
In the long jump, Sam Schafer came in third for the boys, while John DeWulf was 19th. Hannah Schmidt finished in 7th place for the girls, while Carley Williams was 26th.
In the triple jump, Jacob DeWulf finished third, and Schafer scratched. For the girls, Lanessa Simon finished 10th and Schmidt 12th.
