A Bi-County middle-school track and field meet was held in Odessa Thursday, April 17.

Boys
In the 100 meter dash, no 7th-or 8th-grade boys participated, but three 6th grade boys placed third, fourth and fifth: Josh Clark in 15.95, Luke Jacobsen in 16.11 and Ben Melgren in 16.66, respectively. In the 200 meters, Clark placed second in a time of 33.81, while Jacobsen in the 400 meters finished first in 1:20.46.
In the 800 meters, 7th-grader Evan Gonzales finished second in 3:27.73.
In the 1600 meters, 7th-grader Dalton Wilkie took first place in 6:15.29, and 6th-grader Luke Jacobsen was first in his race in 6:36.40.
In the 100-meter 30-inch hurdles, Wilkie placed second in 20.92.
In the 4-kg shot put, 7th-grader Evan Gonzalez placed 17th at a distance of 15-05.50.
The 300-g javelin contest had 7th-graders Wilkie and Gonzalez placing 15th and 16th with throws of 42-07 and 42-03, respectively. In the 6th-grade contest, Ben Melgren took first place with a throw of 71-10.
In the long jump, 7th-grader Wilkie placed 7th with a leap of 11-05.00. Sixth-grader Clark placed first in his contest with a leap of 12-05.00. Jacobsen was 4th at 11-02.00 and Melgren 5th at 8-08.00. Clark also won the triple jump among 6th-graders with a distance of 25-04.00.
Girls
In the 100 meters, the girls 8th-grade team saw Maleah Davison finish 8th in 16.57, and Evie Mann was 14th in 21.20. The 7th-grade race had Laura Zerkle tying for 4th in a time of 16.34, Tashiana Sheldon in 11th place in 16.83 and Brenna Carstensen 21st in 18.91. Sixth-graders took the four top spots in their race: McKennah Davison in 15.59, Mya Boss in 16.65, Natasha Boss in 16.67 and Paige Lee in 17.00, while Brooke Brady finished 7th in 20.21.
In the 200 meters, 8th-grader Amber Smith was 4th in 36.31, Sheldon was 5th for the 7th grade in 35.84 and three 6th graders also placed: Natasha Boss took first in 35.36, while Paige Lee at 37.90 was 5th and Kenadie Elder at 37.93 was 6th.
In the 400 meters, Amber Smith placed 6th in the 8th-grade race in 1:23.85. She was the only O-H participant at that distance.
The 800-meter race also had only one O-H finisher in 7th-grader Megan Shafer, who was second in a time of 3:31.25. S hafer also ran the 100-meter 30-inch hurdles, where she again finished second in 25.25. Sixth graders McKennah Davison and Kenadie Elder finished first (19.86) and third (24.11), respectively.
In the 4x100-meter relay, O-H had no 8th-grade team. Both the 6th and 7th-grade teams took first place in their races. The 7th-grade team comprised Jordan Larmer, Brenna Carstensen, Laura Zerkle and Megan Shafer. The 6th-grade team comprised Mya Boss, Natasha Boss, Caitlyn Schuh and McKennah Davison.
The 4-kg shot put contest had 8th grader Evie Mann placing 7th with a heave of 18-02.50. For the 7th graders, 10th place went to Larmer at 15-04.00, 11th place to Zerkle at 15-03.00 and 12th place to Shafer at 14-07.50. For the 6th graders, Caitlyn Schuh took first place at 19-10.50 and Brooke Brady came in 4th at 12-08.50.
In the 1-kg discus, Maleah Davison was 4th with a distance of 54-05 and Evie Mann was 8th with 46-01 for the 8th graders. For the 7th graders, Larmer was 8th at 39-10, Carstensen was 14th at 38-00 and Zerkle was 21st at 25-04. The 6th-grade girls took five of the top six spots, with Caitlyn Schuh in first at 50-10, Mya Boss third at 46-00, Kenadie Elder 4th at 34-07, Brooke Brady 5th at 26-09 and Paige Lee 6th at 25-00.
In the javelin, 7th grader Tashinana Sheldon was 13th with a throw of 33-03. The sixth-grade girls grabbed the top four positions:

In the long jump, eighth-graders Maleah Davison was 6th at 11-01.00, Amber Smith was 7th at 10-05.00 and Evie Mann was 16th at 8-04.00. For the seventh graders, Tashiana Sheldon was 5th at 9-09.00 and Jordan Larmer was 13th at 7-09.00. Sixth graders competing were Kenadie Elder in 4th at 9-05.00, Paige Lee 7th at 7-09.00 and Brooke Brady 8th at 6-00.00.
In the triple jump, eighth grader Amber Smith was third with a leap of 22-01.00.
