Tuesday, May 6, the Titans baseball team played Wilbur-Creston in a game that went into extra innings with the Titans losing by one, 6-7. Chance Messer was the starting pitcher, going into the eighth inning before switching places with catcher Brad Johnston. Messer allowed 6 runs on 8 hits and had 3 errors; he struck out 4 and had no walks. He threw a total of 93 pitches (72 strikes). In relief, Johnston allowed 2 hits on one run and an error and threw 8 pitches (5 strikes).
On offense, Johnston got one hit and struck out twice; Messer got one run on one hit, walked twice and struck out once; Carsen Weber got three runs on two hits, walked once and struck out once; Nathyn Winslow had one run on one hit, 2 RBIs, walked once and struck out once; Dakota Largent got one run on two hits, one RBI, and drew a walk; Alex Hernandez walked twice and struck out once; Dillon Dennison went 0 for 4; Caleb Behrens went 0 for 4; Colton Hunt walked once and struck out once. Winslow and Hunt were both able to score on errors by the opposing team.
Weber and Winslow each had a stolen base, and Largent had two stolen bases.
In the second game of the double-header, the Titans’ bats went silent and the errors mounted, as the Titans lost by a score of 0-10. Weber and Largent got a single and double, respectively, but were stranded on base. Weber also had a stolen base. Largent and Hernandez were caught stealing.
Johnston pitched into the fifth inning, allowing 7 runs on 8 hits and one error. He struck out 3 and walked one, throwing 71 pitches (47 strikes) before being relieved by Weber in the fifth. Weber allowed 3 runs on no hits/no errors but walked 3 while throwing 18 pitches (6 strikes)
