Family Science Night offers free fun, food for kids / families

On Wednesday, June 4, Mobius Science Center staff members will return for a second Family Science Night this year. New activities and presentations will be included in the evening events which run from 5 to 8 p.m. in the school’s multipurpose room. Families of students in kindergarten through high school are invited.

A tasty and nutritious supper will be served. As a part of Odessa’s PEP grant, the school will be providing fun and informative fitness, health and nutrition activities and resources.

Along with all the exciting Mobius activities and presentations, the high school Advanced Science Research students will have displays and be available to discuss their research projects.

Principal Ken Schutz secured a “Mobius Grant” for the 2013-2014 school year. Activities have included five visits this year to Odessa’s high school science classes, where the Mobius staff facilitated activities such as creating earthquakes, designing and testing paper rockets and dissecting animal eyes.

This spring, classes from grades K-8 traveled to Spokane to visit the Mobius Science Center. Odessa School District staff members take full advantage of such opportunities to make each child’s educational experience more rich and engaging.
