Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
Born November 15, 1927 into the Odessa, Washington home of Clement and Clara Scrupps-Groh, Helen passed away at Spokane's Sacred Heart Hospital, surrounded by her family during the morning hours of Saturday, August 2, 2014.
Following her graduation from Odessa High School, Helen moved to Wenatchee, where she worked as an operator for the phone company. It was here that she met her life's partner of 48 years, Robert A. "Bob" Pierce. They were married in Odessa on November 28, 1948. Helen was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Odessa and countless families were blessed by Helen's efforts with the church's altar society. An accomplished baker, Helen once operated her own cake decorating business out of her home. For years after her business closed, she enjoyed supplying area senior citizens and others with mouthwatering pies, cakes and crescent rolls. Helen enjoyed many of the local area casinos, but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her children and grandchildren, and she faithfully followed each of their athletic events.
Predeceased by her husband Bob Pierce; brothers: Clem & Bob Groh and sister: Janice Groh; Helen's legacy lives on through her four sons: Bill Pierce (Debbie), Gary Pierce (Jan), Jack Pierce (Jolie) and Randy Pierce (Karen); ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers: Marvin Groh (Sharon), John Groh and Tom Groh (Diane); sisters: Evelyn McCartney (Harry), Marge Tebow (Lloyd), Marian Aman (Earl) and Pat Jensen (Ed); many cousins and numerous nephews and nieces.
