Volleyball starts with practice tourneys

Gorilla Classic

At the Gorilla Classic Volleyball Tournament held last Saturday, September 6, in Davenport, the Odessa-Harrington girls lost to Davenport by scores of 17-25 and 12-25 and also lost to Omak by two games to one, winning the first game 27-26 but then losing the next two, 17-25 and 12-15.

The Titans won their two final matches, the first one by two games to one to Almira-Coulee/Hartline. They lost the first game 12-25, then won the next two 25-22 and 15-7. In the final match against Bridgeport, the Titans won 25-22 and 25-7.

O-H Jamboree

On September 9, the O-H Titans held their own Jamboree in Odessa. Their first match against Lind-Ritzville/Sprague was a win with score of 21-19 and 21-8.

Katie DeWulf, Casey Schlomer and Katelyn Worley each scored 2 service aces for the Titans. Leading the team in digs was Schlomer with 4. Jordyn Tanke led with 4 kills on offense and one block on defense. Shelbey Watkins contributed 10 assists.

The second match against Lacrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus was also a win, with scores of 21-8 and 21-16.

Offensively, Lanessa Simon led the team with 4 service aces. Isabelle Phillips led in assists with 7 and Simon had 6 kills. Defensively, Tanke had one block and Schlomer had 8 digs.

In the final matchup, the Titans lost to Davenport by scores of 21-17 and 21-15.

DeWulf and Simon had one service ace each. DeWulf also led in kills with 4. Watkins put up 11 assists. On defense, Schlomer led with 4 blocks and DeWulf had 6 digs.
