Harrington PDA

President Josh Steward called the Tuesday evening meeting of the Public Development Authority to order at 7 p.m. with Jay Kane, Bunny Haugan, Dylan Haas and Marge Womach present. Members contributed what each knew of interest and activities surrounding the potential purchase of empty buildings, including recognition that several contractors from other cities had been to Harrington to examine buildings.

Haas reported that he had been to the meeting of the Economic Development Council in Davenport with consultant Josh Wade and that about 65 business people, reporters and politicians were present. He discussed the social media spectrum and said that a successful business needs to keep its name in front of an ever-increasing audience.

Steward stated that there is yet no definitive answer as to the ownership of the Landmark Apartments. Steward also commented on the activities of the Harrington Fall Festival and said that he participated in the night-golf event at the Harrington Golf & Country Club, which was very busy and quite interesting. Fluorescent paint, balls and bands created a fun atmosphere that proved also to be a safe event.

Haas made several suggestions for types of businesses that could easily function away from a larger city at more reasonable rental rates than in a city.

The next meeting will be held October 28 at 7 p.m. at the Harrington city hall.
