The Grange Milling company mill, flour warehouse and part of the elevator and storage tanks were destroyed by fire of unknown origin discovered early Saturday. The loss is estimated at $80,000, including about $60,000 to the mill, warehouse and elevator and some 4000 barrels of flour and 75 tons of mill feed and other products stored in the flourhouse. A dense fog prevented early discovery of the fire.
Halloween pranksters took it easy on Tuesday night, confining their activities to light damages. Soap must have been scarce, as store windows received only light coatings.
A few business houses encountered trouble starting fires on Wednesday, with blocked chimneys. Auto trailers carried the greatest appeal, finding their way into ditches.
A group of boys, bent on letting air out of tires, were caught and had to report back on Wednesday to replace the air. The few remaining outhouses in the town suffered as usual.
