Why I appreciate America's veterans

I appreciate America’s veterans, because they protected our country while they were in the service. I also appreciate America’s veterans, because they are role models to most people like me. The reason they are role models is because they go to war without saying a word. They are not afraid of dying. They will be there when you need help. They can also fly planes like nobody’s business.

I can show my appreciation for America’s veterans by making sure to say thank you to every veteran I see. I want to make them feel appreciated instead of making them feel like they were not needed. I appreciate all veterans, but my favorite veterans are from the Air Force and the Navy. Our veterans are very brave people; they risked their lives for America and our freedom.

I have many people in my family that have served in the military. These are some of the people in my family that are currently serving in the military or that have served before they passed away. My papa served in the Navy for 30 years before he retired. His team in the Navy was the group that rescued Captain Phillip from the Somali pirates. Even though he is retired, he still helps the Navy as a civilian. My great-great-great grandpa Hughes served in the Army. He fought in World War I. My granddad was in the Navy, but now he is retired. My great-grandpa Jump also served in the Army. My Uncle Rocky was in the Army during the Vietnam War and my uncle Anthony is retired from the Army.

Here are some ways you can show your appreciation to America’s veterans: By flying an American flag in and outside of your house; by helping veterans with yardwork and chores around the house; and if you see a veteran in public ask them if they need any help.

Even though these don’t sound like much, there is no way to ever repay veterans for their sacrifices.
