Google and the National Park Foundation will give girls in Washington state the chance to have their work on display in the other Washington, for the annual tree lighting ceremony with President Obama.
This year, the holidays are “made with code!” Starting December 2, kids can go to madewithcode.com and use blockley, an introductory programming language, to code Christmas lights, a snowflake, or even a yeti. If they choose to code lights, their work will be displayed on Washington state’s designated tree throughout the month of December.
Made with Code is an initiative designed to show girls the fun and creative things they can do with computer science. A toolkit with more information about Made with Code is available at madewithcode.com.
Google hopes to have hundreds of thousands of girls participate in the program. If you have a moment today, visit madewithcode.com and take a look at the projects. In just a few minutes, girls can learn how easy and fun coding can be.
