Odessa High School's chapter of Future Business Leaders of America sent 28 members to the FBLA NE Region Winter Conference in Spokane last week. Students competed both in teams and as individuals, with many achieving awards for their presentations.
Receiving first place in the Business Ethics category was the team of Jenna Shafer, Trevor King and Carsen Weber. Another first place in Desktop Publishing went to the team of Morgan Marchand and Elizabeth Larson.
Second place winners were the team of Zoe Clark, Chance Messer and John DeWulf for Emerging Business Issues, the team of Paige Alloway, Sam Schafer, Alexis Burdick, Katelyn Worley for Business Presentation and the team of Zoe Clark, Brad Johnston and Katie DeWulf for Business Ethics.
Rebecca Fortner, Colby Sooy and Tyler Paris took third place in Business Ethics, as did Jenna Shafer in Desktop Publishing, Sam Schafer in Electronic Career Portfolio and Stacia Lesser in Accounting.
Fourth place winners included Wyatt Haase, John DeWulf and Colby Sooy in the Public Service Announcement category, Colton Hunt, Jayd Jennings and Brad Johnston in Business Presentation, Molly Schafer in Sales Presentation, Molly Schafer again in Creed and Elizabeth Larson in Computer Applications.
Receiving fifth place in Graphic Design was the team of Johnathon Brightwell and Parker Valverde. In Digital Design and Promotion, Jenna Shafer also was in fifth place.
In Desktop Publishing, Johnathon Brightwell and Stacia Lesser were fifth, as was Molly Schafer in Job Interview and Alexis Burdick in Client Service.
The students will compete next at the State Leadership Conference in Spokane in April.
