Lion's Club seeks members

The Odessa Lions Club is in the midst of its latest community service project, refurbishment of the public restroom located on the west side of the public works building and across W. First Street from the community center. Club members are volunteering their time to repair water damage, install new flooring and fixtures and paint the interior. Members say they hope to finish the project by the end of March.

Any community members who wish to lend a helping hand in these efforts will be welcomed with open arms, said club member Scott Heimbigner. Once the restroom project is completed, the club plans to work on the Reiman Park pavilion, itself a Lions Club project from many years ago, repairing the barbecue pits and any other currently nonfunctional portions of the covered cooking area.

The club also invites members of the community to join their organization. Several younger members of the business community in Odessa have joined recently, but many of the members have been Lions for a long time and would like to hand over more of their duties to those younger and stronger than themselves. Anyone interested in joining the Odessa Lions Club is encouraged to contact Scott Heimbigner at ssnjheimbigner@juno.com.

The club meets once a month on the last Wednesday for dinner followed by a meeting to discuss current and future projects.
